Indian Ocean littoral states Navy Commanders to convene

Bandar Abbas, Jan 7, IRNA - Commander of the 1st Zone of the Naval Force of the Iranian Army said the commanders of the naval forces of the Indian Ocean’s littoral states will convene at the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) summit in Bandar Abbas next month.

Second Admiral Mojtaba Mohammadi said in a meeting with Pakistani commander of Peace and Friendship fleet in Bandar Abbas on Monday that one of IONS Summit's programs is the joint drill of member states.

In another part of his remarks, he said, “The Local IONS summit to manifest the strategy of the navy of Iran’s Army in strengthening the good neighborliness with the neighbors and showing the power of the countries of the Indian Ocean region to establish security without the presence of transnational nations.'

Pakistan's Peace and Friendship fleet commander Admiral Mohammad Salem, speaking at a meeting with members of the navy with the governor of Hormozgan on Sunday evening, stated, 'In this regard, the Pakistani Navy provided an idea for the security of the Indian Ocean.'

'We hope the naval forces of Iran will cooperate with the navy of Pakistan to implement the plan,' he said.
