Official: US, Israel benefiting from continuation of Yemeni war

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – The US and Israeli regime are benefiting from continuing aggressions on Yemen, member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen said.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Hazam Al-Assad said the US is benefiting from the money which it earns by selling arms and advanced systems to Saudis.

Meanwhile, Israelis are trying to have the support of Saudi Arabia and the UAE as regard 'Deal of Century' by supporting them in attacking Yemen.

Enemy has relied on continuation of massacre in Yemen to realize its plans and goals, he added.

He went on to say that continuation of war in Yemen will not help realize enemies' colonial and authoritarian plans, but it is just in line with serving US and Israel.

Commenting on the latest conditions of implementing Stockholm agreement, Al-Assad said there is severe obstinacy from Saudi Arabia and the UAE for defeating the truce agreement.

They are trying to prevent implementation of Sweden agreement by targeting civilians and by conducting military operations and bombarding eastern and central areas of Al- Hudaydah.

Despite the measures taken by Yemeni army and the popular committees and ceding the control of Al- Hudaydah port to coastal guard, Saudi mercenaries refuse to reopen southern and eastern ways to Al- Hudaydah.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Yemeni official urged the UN to pressure Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to comply with their commitments to put an end to violation of this Sweden agreement.

Al-Assad reiterated the fact that the UN special envoy Martin Griffith's trip to Yemen has been a major step in line with implementation of Al- Hudaydah agreement and also on negotiations on economic case, Taiz, Sana'a airport and also paying employees' salary.

The United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2451 to support the Stockholm Agreement on deployment of a team in order to facilitate monitoring and implementing the Agreement and establishing truce in important Yemeni ports.

The resolution mainly focuses on sending essential commodities to the Yemeni people, supporting the Stockholm Agreement, assigning the Secretary-General of the United Nations to implement it and observing the ceasefire.

The fourth round of Yemen peace talks kicked off in Stockholm, Sweden on December 6 with the attendance of the UN special envoy Martin Griffith and the government representatives. It agreed to establish truce in Yemeni ports of al-Hudaydah, al-Salif and Ayn Issa.

Saudi Arabia and its regional allies attacked Yemen in March 2015 to bring back to power the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

Since then, the invaders have committed horrible war crimes against Yemeni civilians.
