Securing borders, developing Makran Iran's defense strategy

Bandar Abbas, Jan 1, IRNA - Chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri called securing the country's borders and the development of Makran as the defensive strategy of the Islamic Iran.

The high-ranking military official said on Tuesday during a visit to the Iranian Navy's defensive ramparts in Jask that security in the region was only possible with the companionship of all the countries of the region and the presence of foreigners was detrimental to this goal.

He said that the Iranian Army’s Navy is the only independent force in the world that confronts pirates.

Pointing to security in the Persian Gulf Islands, the official noted, 'The security of the islands has been realized with the use of the most advanced military equipment and skilled forces.'

Major General Baqeri said, “Securing commercial shipping lines and Iran's oil tankers in the open waters is also an important task of Iran's Navy, which has been well-functioning.'

He emphasized that maintaining security at the borders of the country, especially at the southern borders of the Persian Gulf to Makran coasts, is always an important principle on the agenda.
