Iran to globally register Haft Sang

Rasht, Dec 16, IRNA - Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Rural and Indigenous Sport of Iran says Haft Sang Game(Seven Stones) which is considered to be a local Iranian sport, will be globally registered.

'In order a sport to be globally registered, there should be planning which we have managed in the Federation to bring the Iranian field to universal registration,' Bahar Bahrami said Sunday.

'On this basis, in the first step, with the assistance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, we have started the first four-party tournament in the women's division with two teams from Iran and two from Azerbaijan,' he added.

Haft Sang is a native Iranian game that starts with seven smooth and flat stones from big to small, each team typically has at least four players. In Haft Sang, one group is guarding while the other group with a small ball tries to break down the stony pillar of the opposite group and when this happens in opposite side, guards take the ball and hide it, run for the winners, and on the other hand, the other group tries to pick stony pillar up and win.
