Pak daily hails Iran president's proposal on forming regional front

Islamabad, Dec 11, IRNA - Leading Pakistani Urdu news daily has welcomed the proposal by the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that regional countries should form a united front to counter US economic terrorism.

Daily Nawa-i-waqt in its recent editorial comments said that it is high time that all regional countries form a united front otherwise the US will harm all countries one by one.

It said that President Rouhani while speaking at the 2nd Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey in Tehran termed the US sanctions against Iran as economic terrorism and urged the participating countries to form a united front against the United States.

The paper said the proposal by the Iranian President was timely and wise adding that all regional countries are under different kinds of US sanctions. It went on to say that Iran and Pakistan are the two countries that have faced most of the sanctions.

It added that the US has ruined Afghanistan and there is no hope for development and prosperity in the poor country in the near future.

It noted that the US has threatened to impose unjustified taxes on Chinese imported products, which is a step to harm the Chinese economy.

The US had also imposed economic sanctions on Turkey to put pressure on the country for the release of the US pastor a move that had badly affected the Turkish lira, it said.

Nawa-i-waqt said that the suggestion of the Iranian President regarding forming a regional front comes at a time when all countries of the region are being targeted by the US.

It said that the sole objective of the US actions is to make one country a regional power and it will try to harm all those countries that stand up against that certain country.

The regional countries without wasting time should seriously think about the suggestion of the Iranian president otherwise the US will hurt all countries of the region one by one, it added.
