Iran finishes champion of Int'l Horseback Combat Competitions

Tehran, Nov 25, IRNA – Iranian horseback riding team has emerged champion of the Second International horseback combat competitions that ended in the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, southern Iran.

Iranian team scored 595 to stand champion, followed by Poland with 511 scores to stand in the second position and Finland with 432 scores ranking third.

In the adult singles, Seyed Hossein Assadi of Iran won gold medal for gaining 345 scores. Hungary and Poland received the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the U-16 category, French horseback rider turned champion, while two Iranian horseback riders ranked second and third respectively.

More than 40 horseback riders from 18 countries, including the host country Iran, Hungary, Poland, Finland, South Africa, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ireland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, France, Russia, Romania, Canada, the UK, Syria, and the Netherlands, had taken part in the five-day event, including archery, fencing and horseback javelin.

The first round of the international horseback competitions had been held in the central city of Yazd in which such countries as Hungary, Poland, Qatar, Finland, France, Sweden, Romania, Bulgaria, South Korea, Germany and the host country Iran had taken part.
