‘Gaze’ grabs Golden Pram Award at Zagreb

Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA - Iranian short piece ‘Gaze’, directed by Farnoosh Samadi, won the Golden Pram Award for short film at Zagreb Film Festival (ZFF).

In the same event, Serbian feature movie ‘The Load’, by Ognjen Glavonić, received the Golden Pram Award for feature film, ifilmtv.ir reported.

The Croatian festival opened on November 11 and wrapped up on November 18.

‘Gaze’, a 15-minute film, is about a woman who witnesses something happening in the bus on her way back from work, and she has to decide if she should reveal it or not.

“The film is an excellent example of the ‘less is more’ approach. This is an observation of the intrusion into personal space in the contemporary violent world,” stated the explanation of the panel of jury whose members were György Mór Kárpáti, director, screenwriter and last year’s Best Short Film winner at ZFF; Jelena Mišeljić, producer and programming director of Herceg Novi — Montenegro Film Festival and director Matija Vukšić.

The winning film of the 16th Zagreb Film Festival was ‘The Load’.

“In the film, which deftly navigates politically complex grounds with exacting form and content, the horrors of war redefine the seeming banality of everyday life. Dreams of the future exist against all odds in the exquisite and humane debut by Ognjen Glavonić,” elaborated the jury while awarding ‘The Load’ with the Golden Pram Award for Best Feature Film. The panel of jury included director Juho Kuosmanen, director Maja Miloš and actress Deborah Kara Unger.
