Iran Foreign Ministry summons Danish envoy

Tehran, Oct 31, IRNA – Tehran has summoned the Danish Ambassador to Iran Danny Annan to strongly protest against the political and media reaction of certain Danish officials, said the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

The protest by Iran came after Denmark accused an Iranian-Norwegian of having plans to assassinate a person in the Nordic nation, said Bahram Qassemi.

'In the meeting, the ministry of foreign affairs, once again, denied the one-sided reports about an attempted assassination of an Iranian opposition member and alleging that Iran was behind the failed attack,' Qassemi said.

He added that the Danish ambassador was informed that the such reactions are actually the continuation of the plots by the known enemies and attempts aimed at undermining the expanding relations between Iran and Europe at such special and critical time.

Iran Foreign Ministry also emphasized adopting a calculated and wise approach towards the issue and warned against taking uncalculated and scandalous measures.

Meantime, the Danish envoy said that he has been summoned to Copenhagen for consultation and that he will try to raise and follow up Iran's expectations.
