US calls for ending war in Yemen

Tehran, Oct 31, IRNA – US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a statement has called for stopping Saudi coalition air strikes on Yemen, a UK-based news outlet reported on Wednesday.

'Coalition air strikes must cease in all populated areas in Yemen,” Reuters quoted Pompeo as saying.

According to Reuters, the United States helps the coalition by refueling its jets and providing training in targeting.

US President Donald Trump is now under the pressure of domestic and foreign critics for selling arms to Saudi Arabia.

In its latest attack on Yemen, Saudi warplanes four times targeted Kahlan base, in the north of the country.

Earlier, President of the Revolutionary Committee of Yemen Mohammed-Ali al-Houthi had urged forming independent fact-finding committees to look into Saudi crimes against Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and its regional allies attacked Yemen in March 2015 to bring back to power the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The aggressors have committed horrible war crimes against Yemeni civilians during the past three years.
