Iran Majlis speaker congratulates Iraqi new PM on winning Parliament’s vote of confidence

Tehran, Oct 26, IRNA – Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Friday congratulated Iraq’s newly-elected Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi on winning the Iraqi Parliament’s vote of confidence.

In his congratulatory message, Larijani said the Iranian Parliament is ready to promote bilateral relations.

“I am confident that during your tenure, the two countries and nations will witness expansion of relations in all the political, economic, cultural and parliamentary areas,” the Iranian speaker said.

He also told all Iraqi cabinet members that the Iranian Parliament is ready to help facilitate active interaction between the two countries.

Larijani prayed for good health and success of the new Iraqi prime minister, wishing sustainable security, stability and honor for the Iraqi nation.

On October 2, Iraqi President Barham Salih tasked Adil Abdul-Mahdi to form the country’s new cabinet.

Abdul-Mahdi won the Parliament’s vote of confidence on Wednesday (October 24) to officially become the Iraqi prime minister.
