Envoy: No room for aliens in Iran HR promotion

New York, Oct 25, IRNA – Iran's representative to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly Mohammad Hassaninejad says Iran's legitimacy and security are reflections of Iranian people's voice and votes.

Hassaninejad said on Wednesday that Iranians' efforts for human rights protection and promotion leave no place for foreign players.

He said even contemporary history, though in silence, absolutely registers and records the constant crimes of the so-called advocates of human rights.

He added that Iran's legitimacy and security echo the voice and vote of the public. The democratic and dynamic environment inside Iran testify the issue, said the official, adding that the country's management based on the ballot boxes and public votes has resulted in a democratic and peaceful process.

The envoy said Iranian people do not need receiving any recommendations from the deceitful individuals who have committed the most heinous human rights violations in history.

He said the countries, that have been fully defeated in restoring human rights in their community, and the countries whose community are full of racism, Xenophobia, Islamphobia and torture, lack any moral credit to comment on a country that has sincerely been trying to promote human rights.

He asked the Human Rights special rapporteur to notice the impact of sanctions on people of Iran and said for the first ever in the long years similar reports have been issued, a clause of the report has been dedicated to the effect of economic sanctions on Iranians' human rights. Though very tiny and too late, we consider it as a positive progress, he added.

Also referring to the interim verdict of the International Court of Justice on the US' anti-Iran sanctions, he said the ICJ interim verdict, issued on October 3, 2018, makes the illegality of the US sanctions more outstanding.

The Iranian diplomat said with overwhelming majority of votes, the ICJ rules the US to remove any impediment on the way of free export of medicine and medical instruments, food stuff and agro goods, spare parts, related equipment and services required for air transportation safety of citizens .

The US has not yet followed the binding verdict, he added.

To the end of his remarks, Hassaninejad said violation of the UN Charter goals and terrorist activities cannot be covered by human rights activities.

While considering all state missions rejected due to their political nature, the Islamic Republic of Iran stresses promotion of mutual respect and dialogue as a suitable mechanism to probe into any real concerns on human rights.

The Iranian diplomat said that as defender of multilateralism, Iran still urges dialogue on the basis of mutual understanding, cooperation and respect, but the special rapporteur's report does not serve the goal.

Javid Rahman, the Human Rights Rapporteur of the UN, presented his annual report on human rights conditions in Iran to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
