Border units to be reinforced for Arbaeen

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA - Iran Border Guard Commander says the border units will be reinforced for Arbaeen.

Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei made the remarks on Tuesday referring to the diplomatic meeting with his Iraqi counterpart.

Holding continuous joint patrolling, increasing forces, reinforcing border and sea units to maintain security and to facilitate pilgrims' commute are the results of the meeting, he said.

Pilgrims' security should be maintained not only in terminals, but also in all joint border points especially in borders in Kermanshah, Ilam and Khuzestan provinces.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shia Muslims.

Every year millions of Iranians travel to the holy cities of Iraq to perform Arbaeen pilgrimage. This year Arbaeen falls on October 30.
