Iran, Oman discuss regional, bilateral issues

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA – Oman's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Awaz al-Hessan and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif discussed major regional developments as well as bilateral ties on Tuesday.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening political, economic and cultural cooperation.

Over the past years, the Tehran-Muscat relations have been growing, and the two sides have been continuously contacting each other on regional and international issues.

Earlier this month, Senior Assistant to the foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi-Ansari met Omani Minisster of Foreign Affaris Yusuf bin Alawi.

In July, Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif in a visit to Muscat discussed the issues of common interest with his Omani counterpart. They discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in various spheres.

The Omani foreign minister had visited Tehran last March to set the ground for more cooperation with Iran.
