Top military official urges Pakistan to arrest kidnappers

Tehran, Oct 20, IRNA -- Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri has called on Pakistan for taking prompt action to arrest kidnappers of Iranian border guards.

Baqeri made the remarks in a phone call with Commander of Pakistan Army Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday.

Based on the agreements, reached between Iran and Pakistan armed forces to safeguarde common borders, Iran expects Pakistan forces to adopt necessary measures for releasing kidnapped soldiers and border guards.

Baqeri also underlined the importance of deploying more Pakistan military forces on common borders with Iran to maintain security and to prevent outlaws and terrorist movements.

Meanwhile, Javed Bajwa expressed regret over the accident.

He also extended hope for arresting terrorists and liberating border guards.

Fourteen Basij (volunteer forces) and border guard forces were abducted by terrorists in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan border with Pakistan on Monday morning, an informed source said earlier.
