EUNIC chief: EU set to boost ties with Iran

Tehran, Oct 20, IRNA – Head of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Alexander Rueger said on Friday that holding Europe’s film week in the Iranian cities with the participation of 15 members indicates that the EU is determined to promote relations with Iran.

Addressing closing ceremony of “Europe Film Week” in Huweizeh cinema theater in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi province, he added that since the establishment of the institute in 2006, all efforts for cultural exchanges among EU members were aimed at establishing friendship among nations.

“Iran has a bright history in culture and it is known in the field of cinema and art,” he said.

Europe’s film week has been held several times in the Iranian cities and it will also be held in Tehran, Mashhad, Babol and Shiraz, he said.

Europe’s Film Week opened in Mashhad and six other cities on October 12 and will continue until October 19.

Films from 15 European states of Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Britain were screened during the event.
