Iran Embassy in Kabul condemns Kandahar terrorist attack

Kabul, Oct 19, IRNA – Iran’s Embassy in Kabul in a statement on Thursday condemned terrorist attack in Kandahar which killed the province’s police commander as well as national security chief.

The statement said that no doubt that the terror attack is in contravention of Afghans’ national interests such establishment of security and peace in the country.

Iran’s Embassy expressed condolences to the Afghan nation and government over the incident and sympathized with the families of the victims and prayed for swift recovery of the injured.

In the run-up to Afghan parliament elections, a gunman opened fire on a high-level security meeting on Thursday.

Based on the latest official reports by the Afghan officials, Kandahar Police Commander Abdul-Razzaq Ajkazi and National Security Chief Momen Hossein Kheil have been killed and several other officials including Kandahar governor general have been injured.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the attack in the southern city of Kandahar that comes two days before Afghanistan's parliamentary elections that the militant group has vowed to disrupt.
