Iran urges Pak to do utmost to release kidnapped border guards

Tehran, Oct 18, IRNA –Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Shehryar Afridi called for undertaking security commitments in the face of terrorist mobs and doing all in power in line with releasing kidnapped Iranian border guards.

Recalling abduction of 14 Iranian border guards by terrorist mobs, he called on the country to prevent terrorist acts against Iranian territory and attacking border checkpoints.

Stressing that Iran will resolutely deal with terrorist groups and outlaws, Rahmani Fazli said that all the efforts should be focused on preventing recurrence of such bitter incidents.

“Within the framework of bilateral relations and principle of good neighborliness as well as security commitments of the countries, undertaking joint works until achieving result is urgently essential,” he said.

Late Monday, fourteen Basij (volunteer forces) and border guards were abducted by terrorists in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan border with Pakistan.
