Iranian park ranger killed by poachers

Gorgan, Oct 17, IRNA – One ranger of Golestan National Park was killed and two others were injured by illegal hunters early on Wednesday.

The clash happened at Solgerd region of the national park.

Golestan National Park is the oldest national park in Iran, which hosts 1,350 plant and 302 animals species . It has been recorded as a Biosphere Reserve.

The park is habitat for half of Iranian mammals, including panthers, brown bears, wolves, lynxes, red deer, roe deer, wild sheep, wild goats, Iranian gazelle, and wild boar. It is also house to many urials.
