Iran, Indonesia Muslims in full harmony, respect

Jakarta, Oct 16, IRNA – Despite some differences, Muslims in Iran and Indonesia are in full harmony and are respecting each other, Baiturrahman Grand Mosque staff Naisaburi said.

'Iran and Indonesia have the biggest Muslim population in the world and they maintain cooperation, including the religion even there are some differences in the way to worship or other things we are in the unity and respect each other,' Naisaburi said in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) which was held on the sidelines of the 2018 Familiarization Trip Media Iran (Oct 5-12).

Elaborating on the measures taken for creating unity among Muslims, actually Baiturrahman Grand Mosque which is governed by Aceh Municipality is trying its best to integrate all religions.

'There are five religions in Indonesia, but they are trying to minimize all the conflicts,' he added.

For much of his interview, he referred to the steps that they take to show a peaceful image of Islam, saying in this mosque they are always trying to harmonize all the people, but law is law and we have to obey the law even for Muslims because in Aceh they have implemented the Sharia law.

If visitors from other religions did not wear the proper dress they will provide a long dress in full respect.

Meanwhile, one of the Sharia police members commented on their role to bring peace and calmness to the society, saying they are strict to the law, but they are also flexible for example non-Muslims come here nobody prevent them from entering the mosque and they can wear the special dress provided for them.

Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a Mosque located in the center of Banda Aceh city, Aceh Province, Indonesia. The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a symbol of religion, culture, spirit, strength, struggle and nationalism of the Acehnese people.

It is worth noting that the mosque also was rescued from the deadly and devastating 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Banda Aceh which resulted in death of over 40,000 people.

The 2018 Familiarization Trip Media Iran which was organized by Indonesian Tourism Ministry and Indonesian Embassy in Tehran aimed at familiarizing Iranian journalists with tourist attractions in Indonesia and also with Indonesian culture.
