Presence of nationalities in composition of IPU essential

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA- Chairman of the Executive Council of Iran in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) said that conditions for the inclusion of different nationalities in the composition of the staff of the Secretariat of the Union should be provided, and women and young people can participate actively in it.

Referring to the visit of the Iranian Parliamentary delegation with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, Sayyedeh Fatemeh Hosseini said on Monday in the meeting the need to revisit the structure of the Secretariat was stressed.

The head of the parliamentary delegation of Iran emphasized the need for the Secretariat to use modern communication methods to communicate with representatives from all countries that are members of the IPU, stressing that the IPU Secretariat is responsible for increasing the access of countries to the services they offer.

In the meeting with Martin Chungong, Hossein also called for an increase in the participation of all countries in the IPU Secretariat and explained that it is necessary to provide conditions for the presence of different nationalities in the composition of the staff of the IPU Secretariat and that women and young people can also play active role in the composition of the Secretariat.

Representative of Tehran in the Parliament, referring to the election of the Inter-Parliamentary Council, emphasized that for the first time, four female have been elected as members of the Inter-Parliamentary Executive Council and a female MP was elected as chair of the Executive Council of the IPU.

Following on the visit, Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, welcomed an increase in the number of women in the composition of the Iranian parliamentary delegation, expressing its satisfaction over the visit of the Iranian delegation.
