Iran hails elections in Afghanistan

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi welcomed elections in Afghanistan, saying the two countries of Iran and Afghanistan enjoy cooperation in border security, economic and popular relations.

Iran will accept any result of the positive elections in Afghanistan, Qasemi said.

Iran will continue cooperation with Afghanistan, saying both sides have started talks setting up comprehensive document on mutual cooperation.

Commenting on measures taken for Arbaeen pilgrims, Qasemi said Iranian Foreign Ministry is one of the most active members of the Arbaeen committee.

All diplomatic measures have been taken for Iranian consulate and embassy in Iraq for facilitating Arbaeen ritual, he added.

In response to another question on closing Iranian bureau de change in Georgia, he said after establishing visa waiver between Iran and Georgia many Iranians have traveled to this country for trade.

It seems that some bureau de change made some mistakes which are under investigation by Georgian officials, Qasemi said.

'We will not let Iranian nationals' rights be spoiled.'

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qasemi referred to measures taken against the US' oil sanctions, saying the US is trying to achieve its goal of cutting Iran oil exports to zero which will not be realized.

'We have designed necessary mechanisms,' he said, adding that based on the negotiations with other countries it seems that Iran oil exports will continue in the satisfying level.
