Lebanese analyst: verdict indicating weakening of US power

Beirut, Oct 7, IRNA - Lebanese analyst Ziad al-Hafez referring to the recent vote by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at the Hague on opposing the return of US sanctions against Iran said that it reflects the weakening of the White House's power and logic in the world.

Referring to the announcement that the United States has not remained committed to the ICJ's verdict, he said, 'This is a very important judicial decision, and Washington declares that it does not adhere to it, indicating that the United States is not bound to international verdicts and agreements, and that all clinging the treaties to the wall. Therefore, such issues suggest that the American elite will awaken from the illusion of dominance over the world. This has not been the case in the past. America's power has fallen in the world.'

Al-Hafez added that the Iranian government could use the verdict as a weapon against Washington. This ruling could be used in the countries of the world to block American property. For example, a French court will file a complaint and appeal to the International Court of Justice, in order to block the US property and the return of the blocked property to Iran. This is not a simple matter and can be the basis of a legal and financial movement.

Analyst for US affairs said of the run-up to the second round of US sanctions against Iran that the sanctions would not lead to the expected results of Washington. Of course, these sanctions will be annoying for Iran, but Tehran will not change the decision. The sanctions are not new and Iran's economic infrastructure clearly shows that US sanctions cannot harm the structure of the country's economy.
