Portuguese MP hails Iran's approach toward nuclear deal

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA – The Portugal-Iran Friendship Committee of Portuguese parliament has admired Iran's approach toward the nuclear deal and affirmed that Europe is trying to devise a mechanism in order to neutralize the US' sanctions.

Adão Silva in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mostafa Kavakebian on Saturday said the European Union has declared its full political support for the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He also noted that the EU is seriously trying to devise a mechanism for neutralizing the US' sanctions on Iran.

Washington in May withdrew from the deal and re-imposed the economic sanctions that were supposed to be relieved under the agreement.

The European signatories to the deal—France, the UK and Germany—with the support of the EU have vowed to confront the sanctions through a special mechanism.

Silva, heading a parliamentary delegation, is visiting Tehran.
