Iran pioneer in fight against drugs

Karaj, Sept 30, IRNA -- Deputy Assistant Coordinator of Iran Police, referring to Iran's efforts to fight drug traffickers, said Iran has been a pioneer in combating the illicit drug trafficking.

Gen. Mohsen Fathizadeh told a meeting of military attachés and anti-narcotics officers of foreign embassies in Tehran on Sunday that the most successful move of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been fighting the global problem of narcotics trafficking.

He continued, 'Iran's presence in the drugs transit route has added to the difficulty of combating smugglers, but confrontation with this ominous phenomenon is pursued more decisively.'

Fathizadeh said discovery of large quantities of narcotics and growing mumber of the sniffer dogs testify serious endeavor of the Islamic Republic of Iran's law enforcement forces to fight relentlessly with the internationally sinister phenomenon.
