Official: Iran, Russia should start trade based on local currencies

Moscow, Sept 30, IRNA – Member of the United Russia Alexander Zhilkin says Iran and Russia should start trade exchanges based on local currencies to confront Western sanctions.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, Zhilkin said trade with local currencies will decrease sanctions' pressure.

He also referred to good relations between Iran and Astrakhan, saying the businessmen in Astrakhan have relations with northern Iran provinces.

The volume of trade between Astrakhan and Iran is subject to increase, Zhilkin said.

He went on to say that Astrakhan is exporting beef and mutton to Iran.

Economic and social plans are also implemented with Iranians' participation in Astrakhan.
