US to be more isolated under Trump administration: Analyst

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 29, IRNA – The US under Donald Trump administration will be more isolated as the president seems to be less committed to collectivism, a Malaysian analyst said.

'Trump's reaction towards global issues is looking more as a dangerous part of him,' Shukri Shuib, Chairman of Association of Democracy Professional, told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

'The less he seems committed towards collectivism, the more the US will be isolated in the world,' the analyst said commenting on the unilateralist approach Trump has taken towards international issues.

The US president has unilaterally pulled Washington out of the international nuclear deal; a move that was opposed by the majority of international community, including Washington's European allies. The US has also withdrawn from several international organizations and agreements, such as UNESCO and Paris climate agreement.

'Trumpism' is not only a threat to global community, rather he is a threat by himself to Americans,' the Malaysian analyst said, adding that the 'jingoism' being practiced by Trump administration will not make the US great.

'Do American like to pose themselves as an enemy for China, Iran, European, Russian and many others nation? Can 'Trumpism' be believed to be a savior for US to be great?,' Shukri Shuib who is also a senior lecturer at the School of International Studies at Universiti Utara Malaysia University (UMM).

Describing Trump as an 'ultra-capitalist' and a president that 'lacks humanity', he said the speech Trump gave at the UN General Assembly can be summarized as a 'speech of mass destruction'.

He expressed regret for the world that was supposed to be freer and more unified, but now it has to face Trumpism that is focused on isolation of other countries.
