Caspian Sea Convention to win Iran contribution to regional projects: Russian expert

Baku, Sept 29, IRNA- Andrei Doyatkov, a senior expert at the Center for Studies in the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said the Caspian Legal Regime will get Iran growingly contributed the projects underway in the region.

At the meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani economic summit in Baku on Saturday, Doyatkov added that Iran plays an important role in developing regional cooperation.

The Caspian Legal Regime Convention was signed by the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan at the 5th Summit of the Caspian Sea countries in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, on August 12, 2018.

The Russian expert said that Russian-Azerbaijani relations are developing on an equal basis, and that the presidents of the two countries have an important role to play in this regard.

Referring to the fact that the documents signed by Azerbaijan and Russia also indicate the level of relations between the two countries, said transportation is one of the important areas of cooperation in the region, and the completion of the North-South corridor project provides new opportunities for the whole Region.

According to the political expert, Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan are interested in maintaining peace in the Caspian region.
