President Rouhani showed Iran's logic to world: MP

Karaj, Sept 29, IRNA - An Iranian lawmaker said, in his speech at the UN General Assembly Session, Iran's president proved the logic, courtesy and knowledge of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the world.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday, Mohammad Javad Kolivand, who represents the central town of Karaj in the Iranian parliament (Majlis), said President Rouhani delivered a logical speech at the United Nations General Assembly Session in New York.

He went on to say Iran has sought to prove to the world that it has always been committed to the 2015 nuclear deal, and he wondered why sanctions were imposed on it? If the UN does not stand against those who bully other countries, then how is the world body fulfilling its functions?

He said the president of the United States is making efforts to prove that he is the one who has solved the problems of the American society. His businessmanship and economic measures might solve some of his country's problems in the short run, but he has no idea how diplomacy works.

The member of the parliament said many countries, including Europeans, have concluded they should not put all their eggs in the US's basket, and in some areas including the financial system they should have a treasury system independent from that of the United States.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly Session on September 25 which was welcomed by many world leaders, including Europeans, Russia and China.
