Iran to avenge Ahvaz terrorist attack: Commander

Tehran, Sept 28, IRNA – An Iranian senior commander vowed that Iran will avenge the terrorist attack in Ahvaz that killed and injured scores of people, including a child.

The enemies of Islam and Iran that could not stand the system's security power shot people who were commemorating the achievements made by the nation during the war era, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, told worshipers at Tehran Friday Prayers during his pre-sermon speech.

The eight-year war, known in Iran as the Sacred Defense, began in 1980 following Iraq's invasion under the former Iraqi dictator Saddam.

The commander also noted that the bloody killing of people reversed the result of the terrorists' plot that was aimed at fomenting divisions among Iranians.

The terrorist attack that targeted a military parade on Saturday killed 24 and injured at least 60. A group, calling itself al-Ahwazieh, claimed the responsibility.

The indiscriminate approach has regional and global roots with the axis of US-Zionist regime-Saudi Arabia-United Arab Emirates, the General said.

The religious-political ritual in Tehran on Friday was followed by a mass demonstration in condemnation of the terrorist attack in Ahvaz, the capital city of Khuzestan.
