US dreams on Iran not to come true: Former FM

Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA – The vicious dreams of the US officials against Iran will never come true, a former Iranian foreign minister said Tuesday.

Halting Iran's oil export through pressure exerted by the US and its allies will not be realized, Ali-Akbar Velayati told reporters.

The US President Donald Trump in May pulled Washington out of the nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanction on the country. He has pressed the US allies to halt their oil import from Iran by November.

Iran might experience some difficulties at the onset of the US sanctions, but there will be a bright future ahead of Iran as an independent, self-sufficient country, he said.

The Iranian veteran diplomat suggested that Tehran boost its 'look East' policy in order to improve its economy.

'The US is seeking to prove its supremacy to the world, but the time for doing so has passed,' the former foreign minister said.

The future world is not a unipolar system, rather it will be a multipolar one, Velayati said, adding that big powers such as Russia, China and the Muslim countries as well as the united Europe will be the future dominating powers of the world.

Velayati who is also a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader reiterated that the Muslim world led by Islamic ambitions with Iran as its flag-bearer will be a major power in the future.
