Turkmen president condemns Ahvaz terrorist attack

Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA – President of Turkmenistan Monday offered his condolences to his Iranian counterpart over the death of scores of people in a terrorist attack in Ahvaz.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a message to President Hassan Rouhani condemned the attack and expressed sympathy with the Iranian people and the families of the victims, AKIPRESS news agency reported.

The terrorist attack targeted Saturday a military parade and the civilian bystanders in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. At least 25 people, including children and women, were killed and some 60 people were injured by the terrorists.

A group, calling itself al-Ahwazieh, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Turkmen president also declared his support for international community's efforts to eradicate terrorism.

'Flatly condemning any terrorist and extremist manifestations, Turkmenistan fully supports efforts of the international community to fight and root out this evil,' his message read.
