Peace in Syria possible with Tehran-Moscow partnership

Moscow, Sept 23, IRNA - Chairman of International Organizations and Global Political Processes of Russian State University believes that sustainable and long-term peace in Syria is possible with the participation of Russia and Iran, as well as Turkey's support.

'Iran, Russia and Turkey proved their commitment to the political settlement of the Syrian issues in the 10 rounds of the Astana international talks,' Andrei Sidorov told the IRNA correspondent on Sunday.

Expressing that Turkey's participation in solving the Syrian problem is somewhat different from that of Iran and Russia, he said, 'Tehran and Moscow respect the sovereignty of Syria and help Damascus without expecting any reward or in violation of international norm.'

He said, 'Russia, Iran and Turkey' help is effective in solving the problems of Idlib.'

Sidorov noted that the memorandum on the creation of a civilian area in Idlib was signed by Russia and Turkey, adding, 'Iran was also involved in signing this document, and each of the three countries had its share that cannot be ignored.'

Sidorov said that the United States and its allies cannot and should not take part in the steps to resolve Syria, saying that the United States is against the drastic peace and stability in Syria.

'The country and its puppets or their allies are looking for making problems for Syrian crisis and they only think of harming,' he said.
