Strategic collaboration of Tehran-Baku rising

Moscow, Sept 23, IRNA – Azeri Deputy Minister of Communications said that the strategic collaborations of Tehran and Baku underlie the development ties between the two countries in various fields.

Elmir Velizade said that Tehran and Baku have excellent ties and strategic collaboration.

'International north-south corridor, expansion of railways, and collaborations in Caspian Sea enables Iran and Azerbaijan to develop further ties,' he said.

'Building the new railway between Iran's Astara city and Azerbaijan's Astara city was part of the north-south corridor project which was successfully implemented,' he added.

Iran and Azerbaijan planned in 2016 to establish a railway between the two Astara cities as a part of north-south corridor project.

Constructing the Qazvin-Rasht railway in near future will complete the project.

Velizade referred to the Caspian Sea legal regime which was signed last month and called it 'a strategic document to further develop bilateral relations'.

He added, 'The Caspian Sea legal regime proved that both countries have taken similar stances and are trying to broaden ties based on good neighborly relations.'

Velizade also referred to the Caspian Sea Media Forum which was held in Astrakhan city of Russia, saying, 'The forum provides good opportunity for reporters to interact and to exchange their experiences and opened new doors for future collaborations.'
