Indonesia sympathizes with victims of Iran attack

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – The Foreign Ministry of Indonesia in a message issued condolences over the Saturday deadly attack in south western Iran.

'Indonesia expresses its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families,' Indonesia MoFA tweeted on Sunday.

'Indonesia condemns the terror attack in Ahvaz, Iran on 22 September 2018 that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries including children,' it added.

'The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to closely follow the development. So far there has been no reports of Indonesian victims injured or killed in the incident.'

At least 25 people were killed and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province.

“The terrorists disguised as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire at the authorities and people from behind the stand during the parade,' Governor of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati said.

The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
