Belarusian president denounces Ahvaz terrorist attack

Moscow, Sept 23, IRNA – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in a message to his Iranian counterpart condemned terrorist attack in Ahvaz and condoled the deaths of a number of civilians.

He expressed condolences to the families of the victims over martyrdom of civilians.

Belarus is ready to stand by Iran to counter extremism and terrorism, he said.

The Belarusian president also wished swift recovery for the injured and peace and calm for Iran.

At least 25 people were killed and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran.

“The terrorists disguised as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire at the authorities and people from behind the stand during the parade,' Governor General of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati said earlier.

The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
