Developing ties with Tehran in line with Tokyo's interests

Beijing, Sept 22, IRNA – Chairman of the Japanese committee of foreign affairs and defense said on Saturday that developing economic cooperation with Iran is in full compliance with Japan’s national interests.

Miyake Shingo made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani-Movahhed, saying, “The Japanese government should support Japanese companies which are active in Iran, including oil companies.”

Rahmani-Movahhed, for his part, referred to the prominent role of the foreign affairs committee in parliamentary decision-making and diplomacy and expressed the hope that the cooperation between the two countries would strengthen the bilateral relations.

He also stressed the importance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as JCPOA, and urged Japan to take practical actions in order to protect it.
