No journalist killed in Ahvaz terror attack

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA - No journalist has been killed in the terror attack which was carried out during military parade in Iran' southern city of Ahvaz, Iranian news agency says.

Ismael Moanem, Asr-e Jonoob managing editor rejected the death of any journalist during Ahvaz terror attack. He said although journalists were covering the news of the parade of armed forces, no journalist was among those killed.

In a telephone conversation with the deputy for press at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Moanem rejected the death of Asr-e Jonoob's journalist in the terrorist incident which took place on Saturday morning.

The terror attack took place during the parade of military units which was held on the occasion of the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week; a nationwide ceremony to mark the anniversary of Iraq’s eight years of imposed war against Iran under the country's former dictator Saddam.

The death toll from the attack stands at 24, with more than 53 people wounded.

A number of civilians, including women and children, who were watching the military parade, were also among those killed.
