World not backing US policy toward Iran: US media

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA - The Trump administration will fail in its attempt to unify the world against Iran, a US news website said.

The Washington Examiner wrote on its website on Friday, the world has not been convinced to agree with US President Donald Trump' policy toward Iran.

'President Trump, however, seems to believe otherwise, the Examiner wrote.

'In one of his more presidential tweets on Friday morning, Trump sounded triumphant: I will Chair the United Nations Security Council meeting on Iran next week!' it said, quoting a recent tweet by the American president.

The US news source also said Trump aims to use the United Nations Security Council meeting on September 26th as an opportunity to prevent Iran from access to the global economy, but his plan will not come into fruition.

'America's closest allies with interests on Iran (the British, French, and Germans) all want to avoid Iran's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement,' the US media said.

Although these countries have reduced their economic exchanges with Iran to mitigate effects of US sanctions, they do not back Trump's pressure campaign.

China and Russia are even less willing to bow down to United States' demands and in fact have boosted their cooperation with Iran rather than discontinuing their activities in this country.

President Trump and his Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, do not just plan to force Iran to change its behavior; they want regime change as well.
