Iran, Spain discuss JCPOA development

Madrid, Sept 22, IRNA – The Iranian ambassador to Spain Mohammad Hassan Fadaeifard in separate meetings with President of the Senate of Spain Pío García-Escudero and the speaker of Congress of Deputies Ana Pastor reviewed development of Iran nuclear deal.

The meetings were held Friday at the end of Fadaeifard mission.

Unnderlining the significant role played by parliaments to develope relations between Tehran and Madrid, the ambassador referred to García-Escudero's last year trip to Iran as a turning point in the two countries parliamentary relations.

The Iranian envoy also expressed hope for continuation of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Spain.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Fadaeifard emphasized the importance of benefitin g from the cooperation capacities between the two capitals.

He also stressed the need for European countries to comply with commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The ambassador urged the European states to present guarantees for meeting Iran's interest.

García-Escudero, for his part, extended hope for the European Union to present necessary guarantees for preserving the Iran Deal by adopting independent policies.

In his meeting with Ana Pastor, Fadaeifard stressed various capacities in economic and trade sectors between the two countries.

Referring to good mutual efforts made last year and also increasing relations between the two capitals, the ambassador said the trade volume raised from €400m to €2b in 2018.

Meanwhile, Pastor appreciated Iran's supports for Spanish firms' participation in the Iranian market.

She also reiterated that Spain policy is in line with preserving Iran nuclear deal and respecting its principles.
