Nationwide parades in Iran slated for Saturday

Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA – The Islamic Republic Armed Forces will on Saturday hold nationwide parades on the 38th anniversary of the Sacred Defense.

Spokesman and Deputy Commander of the Islamic Republic Army for Cultural and Public Relations Affairs Brigadier General Taqikahani said the motto of the parade will be 'We Could.'

He said the ceremonies in Tehran will be held on the sidelines of the mausoleum of the father of the Islamic Revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic the late Imam Khomeini.

The heroic defense of Iranian people against the imposed war on Iran by the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq is called 'Sacred Defense'. The war started on Sept 22, 1980 with bombarding Tehran Mehrabad Airport by Iraqi warplanes and lasted for 8 years. The enemies of Iran and the Islamic Revolution had planned to destroy Iran by waging a full-fledged war but their conspiracy was ultimately foild by the courageous resistance of the Iranian nation.
