Iran's ambassador to Japan visits Kyodo news agency

Beijing,Sept 18, IRNA -- Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Japan Morteza Rahmani Movahed visited Kyodo, the official news agency of Japan, on Tuesday and met with the head of the news agency Turo Mizutani.

Rahmani Movahed referred to good relations and cooperation between Iran and Japan in various fields and also to a Memorandum of Understanding, signed by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and Kyodo for mutual cooperation, calling for enhanced cooperation between the two sides within framework of the already signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

He also referred to the cooperation between two news agencies, in particular participation of Kyodo at the Asia-Pacific News Agencies summit (OANA), which was hosted by IRNA in Tehran, as a way to strengthen media relations between the two countries.

The head of the Kyodo news agency, Mizutani, said he was ready to develop relations between the two countries, considering the importance of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the good cooperation between the two countries.

He argued that while the Kyodo news agency is not government-owned, the philosophy of the news agency from the beginning has been impartiality in releasing news.

The head of the Kyodo news agency emphasized, 'We are trying to encourage people to think about the news and we are proud that there are few media outlets that are supportive of a particular country in Japan.'
