Speculation rises on return of Azmoon to Iran's nat'l team

Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA - After Sardar Azmoon farewell from Iran's national soccer team and despite his refusal to return offer by team's head coach Carlos Queiroz, Portuguese speculations have been raised for a 23-year-old striker to come back.

The Iranian national team finished its work in Russia by earning four points from the 2018 World Cup group stage, and on July, 2018, the young Azmoon abandoned national shirt after making complains in the cyberspace.

He noted with regret that he did not climb to the next round of the World Cup, and left the national team on the pretext of his mother's illness and, in fact, for insulting him and criticizing his bad performance at the World Cup.

Many believed that Azmoon's performance at the World Cup showed the end of the era of Iran's striker. But he defended himself saying that the tactic of the national team was such that he had to defend even in the box of Alireza Beiranvand' Iranian goalkeeper.

However, on 10 September, when queiroz returned to Iran after a lot of pleas for joining other teams and taking over the national team without a contract, announced the national list for a friendly vis-a-vis Uzbekistan the name of the Azmoon appeared.

Experienced soccer experts criticized queiroz for this practice and said that he was away from his professional principles.

Because they believed that such a similar behavior had already been made by some of the players in the national team, when Queiroz put red lines on their names. However, Queiroz stated in a television program that Azmoon is an asset of Iran and national team, and he is not supposed to take away this asset from Iranian football.

Now, the hearings indicate that Queiroz has contacted Azmoon to persuade him to rejoin his next camp.

The next national team camp will be held on FIFA days from mid-November to early December, and it is likely that Azmoon travels by the team to participate in the 17th AFC Asian Cup in 2019.
