Iran, Indonesia MPs discuss boost of all-out ties

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 13, IRNA – Senior Iranian and Indonesian lawmakers in a meeting on Thursday explored avenues for development of all-out ties between the two Muslim states.

Economic cooperation is the base for cooperation in other fields, Nour-Mohammad Torbatinejad, the Iranian lawmaker said in a meeting with Nour Hayati al-Saqqaf, vice speaker of the Indonesian parliament.

The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the World Parliamentary Assembly in Bali, Indonesia.

Torbatinejad, who heads the Iranian parliamentary delegation, called for development of Iran-Indonesia relations in all fields, in particular, agriculture and trade.

During the meeting, the vice speaker of the Indonesian parliament for his part lauded good relations between Tehran and Jakarta.

She called for increase of consultations between Iran and Indonesia to implement the bilateral agreements in the economic field.

Sustainable development, responsible energy consumption, women's role and sustainable energy, among other topics, took the center stage of the 2nd World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development, which kicked off Wednesday in Indonesia's resort island of Bali.

Members of parliaments from over 40 nations and representatives of international organizations took part in the two-day meeting, a statement from Indonesian House of Representatives said.
