Tehran Summit one of OANA's most successful meetings

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9, IRNA - The editor-in-chief of the Malaysian official news agency (Bernama) said due to plans to strengthen the Organization of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies' media power in the world the recent summit Will be evaluated as the most successful OANA meeting.

The 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was addressed September 3 by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and IRNA Managing Director Seyyed Zia Hashemi, with the participation of senior executives of the news agencies of the Organization, senior news agencies, Iranian newspapers and a number of heads of commissions and representatives of Iran's parliament, IRIB, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations and institutions hosted by IRNA at the Spinase Palace Hotel in Tehran.

Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Mongolia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bulgaria were among the countries represented at the Tehran Summit.

'Forming a permanent secretariat for the organization was one of the most important offers in the summit,' Zakaria Abdul Wahab said Sunday after returning from the Tehran summit in a conversation with IRNA on the achievements of the regional summit. 'It was an area of great importance because the existence of such an organization could be systematically, and properly can manage the organization.'

He noted that the secretariat of the organization is currently active only during meetings.

Bernama editor-in-chief said that the OANA's 'special flag' was one of other major issues raised at Tehran Summit', noting the move would contribute to the global reputation of the organization and allow members to participate in international meetings with a common flag.

He voiced satisfaction over the talks between Bernama and IRNA in Tehran on the sidelines of the OANA summit, and said that both organizations held talks on how to strengthen and improve bilateral engagement in news, photo and video sections.
