Iran, Belarus enjoy capacities for boosting bilateral ties: Larijani

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday hailed Tehran and Minsk’s capacities for broadening ties, saying that parliamentary negotiations play a crucial role in improving ties between the two countries.

Upon his return from Russian and Belarus visits, he said at Mehrabad airport that he explored avenues for boosting trade ties with Belarus during his trip to Minsk.

He also hailed talks with the Russian and Belarusian officials as good, saying that the discussions focused on development of political and economic relations.

Various sessions on agriculture, industry and energy were held in Minsk, he said, noting that Iranian delegation members held different discussions with their counterparts in a bid to boost bilateral economic and political relations.

Noting that Iran and Belarus have cordial and friendly ties, Larijani said that common capacities of the two countries should be used to promote ties to satisfactory levels.

Iran, Russia and Belarus boast of common views on fighting terrorism and international developments, he said, noting that regional security and stability will be achieved only through interaction and collaboration among regional nations.

Larijani heading a high ranking delegation arrived in Minsk on an official visit at the invitation of his Belarusian counterpart and in response to a visit to Tehran of the speaker of Belarusian Senate.

He traveled to the Belarusian capital from the Russian city of Volgograd where he took part in an Iran-Russia parliamentary meeting.
