Iraq agrees to reopen Khosravi border crossing

Kermanshah, Sept 6, IRNA – The Kermanshah Governor announced that Iraqi Interior Ministry has agreed to reopen Khosravi border crossing for Arbaeen ritual pilgrims.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Housahang Bazvand referred to his trip to Iraq on Wednesday to hold talks with the Iraqi interior minister.

'During the meeting, we negotiated security at borders and safeguarding Arbaeen pilgrims,' he added.

If the issue is approved in Iraqi ministers’ council, Khoravi border crossing will be reopened for pilgrims, he noted.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It marks the end of 40-day morning after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shia Muslims.
