US JCPOA withdrawal means ignoring Iranian nations’ rights

Rome, Sept 6, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Vatican Taha Hashemi said US walkaway from Iran nuclear deal means ignoring the Iranian people’s rights.

Hashemi made the remarks in a Thursday meeting with Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State of Vatican Paul Gallagher.

Despite the fact that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified Iran’s commitment to nuclear deal, US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and also threatening the Iranian people is in fact ignoring people’s rights.

He also expressed hope that the Vatican would stand by the Iranian nation.

Iran is ready for boosting cooperation, exchanging delegations, holding joint meetings on issues of mutual interests including family, immigrants, fighting terrorism and confronting extremism, he added.

He said given Daesh terrorists’ attempts against religions, Iran’s fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria was a big favor to humanity.

Iran’s presence in these two countries was upon the requests of the Iraqi and Syrian governments , Hashemi reiterated.

Iranian envoy said holding religious talks between the two sides would pave the way for developing mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, Gallagher pointed to sensitive situations in the region, especially in Syria and Yemen, expressing hope that Tehran-Vatican relations would serve to deescalate tensions in the Middle East.

Elsewhere in his remarks he referred to US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal, saying Vatican is against any sanction that harms people.
