US after abolishing Palestinians' right of return: Islamic Jihad official

Beirut, Sept 6, IRNA – The main goal Washington is following to achieve by cutting back aids to the Palestine relief organization is putting an end to the Palestinian right of return to their homeland, said an Islamic Jihad representative in a recent interview.

The US State Department has announced it will cut off its aid to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

'For many years the Zionists have repeated these words that “the old will die and the young will forget” in order to spreading their hegemony over the whole Palestinian land and people,' the Representative of Islamic Jihad Movement in Lebanon Ihsan Ataya said in a recent interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

'The Zionists continue to maintain such a view and they employ different methods to realize such an idea,' Ataya added.

He said that discontinuation of US aids to UNRWA is part of Washington's plan to implement the so-called Deal of the Century.

US President Donald Trump has stopped short of elaborating on the plan but he has started implementing it step by step; first by relocating US embassy to Al Quds (Jerusalem) and then by cutting back aids to UNRWA, the Islamic Jihad representative in Lebanon said.

But Ataya stressed that an increase in the aids provided by the European and Arab countries as well as wealthy Palestinians to the relief agency could compensate for the loss caused by the US plan.
