$3bn worth of horticultural crops exported

Khomein, Markazi prov, Sept 2, IRNA - Three billion dollars worth of horticultural products were exported abroad in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning March 20, 2018), an agricultural official said.

'Some 805,000 tons of apple were exported last year and in the first quarter of this year and 253,000 tons of dates were exported in 2017,' Mohammad ALi Tahmasbi, deputy minister of agricultural jihad said on the sidelines of a national ornamental flowers and plants exhibition in Mahallat, Markazi province which ended Saturday.

He said there is an appropriate opportunity for exporting crops such as pistachio, date, saffron, raisin, ornamental flowers and plants and citrus.

The national ornamental flowers and plants exhibition was held an area of 30,000 square meters including 8,500 square meters of roofed area from August 26 to September 1.
