Immediate end to Syrian crisis Iran’s regional policy’s priority

Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA -- Senior assistant to Iran's foreign minister for political affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari said on Saturday that putting an end to Syrian crisis immediately is a priority of Iran’s regional policy.

In a meeting with the UK's Special Envoy for Syria Martin Longden in Tehran late Saturday, he added that humanitarian issues during the Syrian crisis have always been at the center of Iran’s attention, as Iran’s policies in his regard was totally transparent and clear.

“Iran as one of the biggest victims of chemical weapons seriously opposes use of such weapons in any conflict,” he said, noting that it is also against instrumental use of the issue for fulfilling political objectives.

Commenting on the current efforts within the framework of Astana Process to settle Syrian crisis, Ansari stressed that Iran has always been after Syrian-Syrian talks and build confidence between the government and Syrian opposition.

Iran is ready for cooperation with European countries and Britain to help end the crises in Syria and Yemen immediately, he said.

Longden, for his part, expressed concern about Idlib situation and future and possible use of chemical weapons in the region.

He also welcomed Iran-Britain cooperation on Syrian crisis and voiced his country’s preparedness to help end Syrian crisis and restore stability to the region.
